The ‘New and Emerging Researcher’ Prize was first initiated in 2014. This award recognizes outstanding investigators in the early stages of their career who have made meritorious contributions to the field of physiology.This prize is awarded annually for outstanding research by a post-doctoral fellow, research fellow, assistant research fellow, or early career academic staff member who are within 8 years of completion of PhD.

 

Eligibility:

1) Candidates should have had less than 8 years of research experience post PhD.

2) Candidates must be members of the PSNZ at the time of presentation, and demonstrate a strong affiliation to the field of physiology.

 

How to Apply:

At the time of abstract submission, you will need to indicate whether you want your abstract to be considered for the New and Emerging Researcher prize. Please send an updated CV to A/P Rajesh Katare, secretary of the PSNZ (rajesh.katare@otago.ac.nz) by 19th July, 2019.

 

After Application:

Applications will be assessed by a Committee appointed by PSNZ Council.

  • All applicants will be notified of the outcome at least three weeks before the Society’s Annual Meeting
  • A short-list of 2 applicants will be compiled
  • Short-listed applicants will present a 20-minute talk, followed by 10 minutes for questions, at the Society’s Annual Meeting
  • The quality of the presentation and the ability to answers questions will be judged by the above Committee and will contribute to the selection of the winner
  • The Winner(s) will be announced at the Society’s Dinner
  • The Prize is a Certificate and a cheque for $500. The winner will also be invited to present their work at the Australian Physiological Society (AuPS) meeting in the following year, travel costs will be supported.
  • The winner will acknowledge PSNZ in their CV
  • No award shall be made if none of the work merits such recognition
