HRI is offering postdoctoral fellowships to NZ citizens for a period of 2 years to work under the mentorship of senior HRI scientists in Sydney. Due to the nature of the funding arrangement, the positions are open only to NZ citizens currently residing in NZ and currently not residing in Australia. It is anticipated that the fellowships will commence in early 2026. HRI will offer relocation assistance, and assistance with the cost of temporary accommodation upon arrival in Sydney. The appointments may be worked as either two years in Sydney, or one year in Sydney and one year in a collaborating institute in NZ.

You will teach into the University's new Bachelor of Biomedical Science degree, the Physiology major, and the Medical programme, delivering high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
You will hold a PhD in physiology or a closely related biomedical discipline. You will be expected to establish an independent, high-impact research program that complements and expands departmental strengths. In line with evolving national science funding priorities, we also welcome candidates who demonstrate an interest or track record in research translation, commercialisation, industry engagement, or clinical collaboration. The successful candidate will be a collaborative scholar capable of building interdisciplinary networks, securing contestable grant funding, supervising postgraduate research students, and engaging with broader community and health stakeholders.
