The ‘New and Emerging Researcher’ Prize was first initiated in 2014. This prize is awarded annually for outstanding research by a Postdoctoral Fellow, Research Fellow, Assistant Research Fellow, or early career academic staff member who are within 8 years of completion of PhD.
Eligibility:
• Candidates should have had less than 8 years of research experience post PhD and be an active member of the PSNZ.
• Candidate must be members of the PSNZ at the time of presentation.
How to Apply:
Send your abstract and up to date CV and an indication of your wish to apply for this prize to Assoc Prof Joanne Davidson, secretary of the PSNZ (joanne.davidson@auckland.ac.nz) by 1st of July in the year of the award.
After Application:
Applications will be assessed by a committee appointed by PSNZ Council.
• Two applicants will be short listed and all applicants will be notified of the outcome at least three weeks before the conference.
• Short-listed applicants will present a 20-minute talk, followed by 10 minutes for questions, at the online Forum.
• The quality of the presentation and the ability to answer questions will be judged by the above Committee and will contribute to the selection of the winner.
• The winner will be announced at the MedSciNZ dinner.
• The prize is a Certificate and $500, and an invitation to present their work at the Australian Physiological Society conference the following year (with travel support).
• The winner will acknowledge PSNZ in their CV.
• No award shall be made if none of the work merits such recognition.
