The Research Excellence Award will next be receiving applications in 2025.
The “Excellence in Research Award” was first initiated in 2016 and has been named after A/Prof Paul Hill, HOD in Physiology, University of Auckland 1993-1997. This prize is awarded every two years for the best researcher at sub-professorial levels (Associate Professor, senior lecturer, and senior research fellow) who have at least 8 years of research experience post PhD.
Eligibility:
• The applicant must be a member in good standing (for example, member of PSNZ for last 5 years, Council member, member of other international physiological societies, regular attendance at the meeting)
• Applicants can self-nominate or be nominated by others with permission
How to Apply:
Send your application or nomination, consisting of the following, to Assoc Prof Joanne Davidson, secretary of the PSNZ (joanne.davidson@auckland.ac.nz) by 1st of July in the year of the award.
1. A one-page summary of the significance of the applicant’s research and evidence of active participation in PSNZ.
2. A detailed CV including all publications.
After Application:
• Applications will be assessed by a committee appointed by PSNZ Council and the winner will be selected based on the CV, scientific achievement and their active role in PSNZ.
• The winner will be invited to deliver a 30-minute presentation at the MedSciNZ conference.
• The winner will receive a certificate and a cash prize of $1000 at the MedSciNZ dinner.
• No award shall be made if none of the applicants merits such recognition.
